COVERGIRL HOLIDAY VOXBOX

I was lucky enough to be chosen to receive the COVERGIRL Holiday VoxBox from Influenster. This box contains the truNaked Smoky Shadow Palette, Lid Lock Up Eyeshadow Primer, and the Melting Pout Metallics Liquid Lipstick in 24 Carat.

Lid Lock Up Eye Shadow Primer
The Lid Lock Up eyeshadow primer in 100 "Universal". The primer has a light tan color to it, however, it does sheer out to be almost translucent- at least on my skin tone. Once spread out, it dries to a slightly tacky finish which helps keep the shadows on the eye.

Review:
This eye shadow primer is excellent. It blended out easily and dried to a tacky finish. The tacky finish helps the shadows stay on the eye longer. I did set the primer with one of the eye shadows in the truNaked Smoky palette. Setting the primer allowed me to have an easier time blending the shadows later. I really liked this primer and I would recommend it.

I had a little bit of a struggle using this palette since there is not a good transition/crease shade. I did enjoy that the back of the palette has three examples of looks to try out which are labeled nicely and a picture is included. If you peel back the label, you will see the shadow numbers and their corresponding names along with where they are suggested to be used. There is also a "scale" which directs you to which shadows to use if you want a softer or more intense look. On the opposite side of the label that gets peeled back, there is a diagram of the eye which has the "parts" of the eye labeled to help users understand how to better use the palette.

I started out with look number 3 (Sultry Stare), however, I did not like how it looked. I started over and tried out "Smoke Glow" (look number 1) which I enjoyed.

"Smoke Glow" eye shadow look

To create this look, I started out priming my eyes with the Lid Lock Up eye shadow primer in 100 "Universal". Once blended out, I took Glow (shade 8) and placed it all over my lid and into my crease to help the blending. I went into the crease with Slate (shade 2). Slate is not a shade I would usually use since it has little glitters in it. It was very pigmented and blended out well. I also took Slate into my outer corner and down my lower lash line. Next, I used a tiny bit of Ignite (shade 7) to help darken up the crease and outer corner. This shade was extremely pigmented- a little goes a long way! Lastly, I applied Ember (shade 1) to my entire lid with my finger. I also added a little bit of Ember to my inner corner.

Review
This shadow palette is really nice! The shadows are very pigmented and blend nicely. I did find it difficult to get an idea of what type of look to do since a large majority of the shadows are shimmery and only a few are matte. I believe this palette would benefit from a light brown/tan color.  There was minimal fallout when doing my eye shadow and it was mostly from the shade Slate, meaning I had some glitter on my cheeks as well. For the price of this eye shadow palette, I believe this is a wonderful deal and I highly recommend this palette.

Melting Pout Metallics Liquid Lipstick
The Melting Pout Metallics Liquid Lipstick in shade 24 Carat, number 200, was the last product included in the box. The packaging says the product is a "gel liquid lipstick". The color of the packaging made me think the color would be more of a brown-caramel color but it is very orange-y and not a color I would typically go for.

The lipstick comes in a squeeze tube and has a sponge applicator on the tip which contains a small hole in the middle where the product comes out. There is 0.30 fluid ounces (9 mL) of product in the container.

The term "liquid lipstick" has come to imply that it will dry down to a matte or satin finish, however, these will not dry down at all. They are in no way transfer proof and will wear like a gloss. The applicator makes it difficult to work around the cupid's bow. I did try to use a lip brush but the result was a streaky and patchy mess. Below are two pictures of the lipstick; one in natural daylight and the other with a camera flash.

Review
The formula was nice and not sticky at all, which was what I was worried about. The lipstick will slip and slide around and you will definitely need touch-ups if you plan on wearing this for an extended period of time. This color, 24 Carat, is just not for me. If you get this thinking it will be a bronze-gold, you will be disappointed. It is very orange and looks nothing like the packaging would lead you to believe. If this or other colors in this collection call to you, I would recommend trying it out since it is not a bad formula. I am just not a fan of metallic lips in general. If you do want to try these out, I would get them quickly since this is a limited edition product!
